Alzheimer's Association : Email - Federal Update on Alzheimer's:

'via Blog this'
more on the ongoing plan for Alzheimer's Disease. Problem i find with plan, is those with Alzheimer's have no say nor were we asked. So much for the forgotten.

God Bless,
Joe

Joe, I ache for you. You got sick a little too soon. There are groups now for patients -- patients ONLY -- and we are moving forward. I just realized that I know Obama personally, from school. I might be a face for a phenomenon that he could relate to.

However, you're right, in that in the lobbying area, the caregivers are always going to take over. They do anyway, it's the nature of the problem.

If you're still up for being online more often, the Memory People group on Facebook is a group for both patients and caregivers. So yes they're pushy, but it was started by a patient and Rick is very much in charge. You might want to check it out. Or you can join my 'secret' group, also on Facebook. Let me know if you're interested.

Joe, you had so, so much to give. I hope you still do. I don't know if it's depression that's getting you down, or progression. Personally, I think it's both, and if you get the depression under control you might be shocked at how much you still have to say. Even if you wear diapers. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Everyone progresses differently. I have an online friend who has had problems with bladder and bowel control for many years. He still writes.

Your perspective has always been that death is a blessing. At the very last stages, it is, Joe. You're not at those stages. You're still reading the news and passing it on. If you want death, then that is an option and you need to find a doctor who will help you. I know it's illegal, who cares, it happens every day. OR, you can decide that you can't control the date of your death, but you can control the days in the meantime. You used to be so great at that. Maybe it's time to think like that again.

I love you, Joe. We love you. It's such a weird thing to say to someone you've never met. But it's true. Make a choice, one way or the other. Because seeing you like this makes me cry.
